First Four Climbers of Mt.Everest

Edmund Hillary:
Sir Edmund Hillary was born on 20th July, 1919 in Tuakau, New Zealand. Before climbing Everest, he had scaled mountains in New Zealand and Europe (the Alps). Sir Edmund Hillary was part of a British expedition led by Lord John Hunt. He reached the summit at 11:30 am in the morning. He developed interest in mountaineering when he was studying in secondary school. Ascending Mount Ollivier was hisfirst major achievement; he climbed the mountain in 1939.

Tenzing Norgay:
Tenzing Norgay (1914-1986) was a well-known Nepalese mountaineer who set a record in 1952 by climbing 28,215 feet of Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. Tenzing Norgay was born on May 15, 1914 in Solo Khumbu, Nepal, a member of the Sherpa tribe. When Europeans began exploring the Himalayas in the early part of the 20th century, they usually came to Darjeeling, India, and hired Sherpas to assist with their expeditions.

Ernst Schmied:
Ernst Schmied (1924 in Bern, Switzerland - 22 March 2002) was a Swiss Mountaineer. He is best known for achieving the second successful summit of Mount Everest, on 23 May 1956, as part of the 1956 Swiss Expedition to Everest and Lhotse.Ernst Schmied (1924 in Bern, Switzerland - 22 March 2002) was a Swiss Mountaineer. Jurg Marmet:
Jürg Marmet (September 14, 1927 – March 8, 2013) was a Swiss mountaineer. Marmet was part of the first two-man Swiss team which climbed Mount Everest in 1956. (Prior to this, only Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay had successfully climbed the mountain in 1953). Marmet and his climbing partner, Ernst Schmied, became the third and fourth people (and the second two-man team) to reach Mount Everest's summit on May 23, 1956.
